So I have a total girl crush on American actress Jennifer Lawrence – how beautiful does she look here? My favourite makeup artist, Kay Montano and awesome London hairdresser, Johnnie Sapong, was Jennifer’s glam squad at the BAFTAS this week.
Kay has done a detailed breakdown of what she used on Jennifer on her website, Her post is so gorgeous (with lots of details about blending and how-to), that I thought I would send you straight to her fabulous website to read it. Here’s the link:

Video: Bedroom Eyes – Kay Montano for Eyeko

This is a beautiful new short film by London photographer Chris Floyd and makeup is by my favourite makeup artist (and mentor!) Kay Montano. It’s a lovely homage to Marilyn Monroe and it showcases Eyeko’s beautiful eye products (I can attest to the fact that their liquid eyeliner pen is one of the very best I have ever tried.)

Video: Trends by Kay Montano for Becauselondon.com

Love this trends video by Kay Montano which basically gives you a heads up on what you’ll be wanting to wear on your face for next season.

And just FYI, I’m off on holidays tomorrow (only for a week) so regular MM service will resume when I’m back. I now force myself to take a total break from the internet when I’m away and even though the first couple of days are like going cold turkey off drugs, I find it really refreshes me. You all have permission to shout at me on Twitter and Facebook if I cave in! See you in a week…

Right Now: Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out with Chanel

Twinsets Chanel

Every year Chanel do incredible events for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out, around the world. Here’s a lovely video from London a couple of years ago, with two of my favourite people, makeup artist Kay Montano and lovely British supermodel, Daisy Lowe, getting into the spirit of the evening:

Chanel is also renowned for launching special, liimited edition products for the occasion, and this year in Sydney is no exception. This Thursday, 6th September, will be the launch of Les Twinsets de Chanel, created exclusively by Peter Phillips, Creative Director at Chanel Makeup. Les Twinsets will be available exclusively at The Chanel Makeup Studio, Myer, Sydney City for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out.

There are three unique harmonies in the range, matching lips and eyes like a twinset – resolutely feminine.

ROUGE ALLURE VELVET and LE VERNIS:

  • LA PROVOCANTE & PROVOCATION: a unique Autumn plum shade.
  • L’INFIDÈLE & INFIDÈLE: an intense pink with a burst of energy.
  • LA DÉLICATE & DÉLICATESSE: a refined expression of beige to play on the
  • natural side of sophistication.

This is the perfect excuse to indulge in a bit of Chanel lipstick and nail polish action – like you ever need one of those.

New Beauty Breakdown! Salma Hayek on the cover of Lucky magazine

Salma Hayek Lucky Magazine

Makeup by Kay Montano | Photographer – Patrick Demarchalier

I love the cover of the latest Lucky magazine, and makeup artist Kay Montano was chatting to me recently about what products she used on gorgeous actress Salma Hayek. The pictures were shot in Versailles (no less!) by top fashion photographer Patrick Demarchalier. Kay said it was a fantastic shoot as she has worked with both Patrick and Salma for many years – and, well Versailles, you can’t go wrong really.

During the shoot Salma showed Kay some of the products from her new beauty line in the US, Nuance, which Kay says are amazing. She used the Nuance blush in Apricot on Salma as it’s her favourite colour. These are available at CVS in the States.

Here’s what Kay used:

Foundation

  • MyFace MyMix foundation in Med 03
  • YSL Touche Eclat in 03 (Salma loves this for brightening her under eye area)
  • Smashbox Banana powder

 Eyes

  • Chanel Teak eye pencil softly smudged
  •  Chanel Magic Night single eyeshadow over this
  • Chanel Ligne Extreme black eyeliner
  • Chanel Inimitable mascara in Black

Cheeks

  • Nuance Flawless Mineral Cheek Trio in Apricot

Lips

  • Bobbi Brown Blush Lip Liner
  • Bobbi Brown Pink Truffle Pot Rouge (as a lip stain)
