I fell in love with this video when I saw it a few weeks ago, on the brilliant new website www.neverunderdressed.com (a fabulous mash up of fashon, beauty, pop culture and just all round cool stuff). Enjoy Daria Werbowy, face of Lancôme on the rooftops of NY just looking effortlessly gorgeous and wearing nothing but the new Lancôme foundation, Visionnaire. This is how skin should look – touchable and like there’s nothing but a Spring breeze and some sunshine on it (and some Daria genetics probably help too). Rock on.
It’s a great week at MM HQ as one of my favourite hairdressers, Mr Neil Moodie, has a brand, spanking new blog out, and it’s gorgeous. Neil is not only an amazing hairdresser (the hair at the Burberry shows and in the ads – that’s Neil, every season), and he’s done everyone from Victoria’s Secret’s Angels to Gwyneth Paltrow. He began his career working with iconic photographer Corinne Day throughout her career – Corinne’s photos of Kate Moss? All Neil.
Most recently he’s had a gorgeous British Vogue cover with Arizona Muse, so he knows his stuff. Oh, and he’s the loveliest guy with a super-cute dog, and did I mention he’s hilarious? As in I would clap my hands when I saw his name on a call sheet for a job as he would just have me in stitches all day long.
Now you can regularly visit MoodieWorld with interviews, how-tos, behind-the-scenes and general glamness at www.neilmoodie.com
How cute is this new video! I’ve loved Betty Boop since I was a little girl, and I’m so happy she’s been brought back with this cute Lancome collaboration. If the new Lancome mascara, Hypnose Star, is anything as good as their existing mascara range, well I’ll take ten please. Lashes fit for a star!
And when I say “Does Paris Vogue” I mean, literally! Fabulous NY-based hairdresser, James Pecis who I had the pleasure of working with a lot in London over the years, has just done the hair for EVERY SINGLE STORY, both main and short fashion in February’s Paris Vogue. Including a body-slamming editorial of Daria Werbowy shot by Inez and Vinoodh it’s definitely one for the archives and I’m as in awe as ever of James’ amazing hair skills. He’s currently in NY kicking off the show circuit with his team, but I for one can’t wait to see where his career is going to go next. What a coup!
Oh how I love the Fashion shows! All these amazing looks, pouring out of the runways and backstage areas, and with the internet you can have them all, in your home, that very day. And there is always a bone of beauty contention – this season’s issue is whether to Blush, or Contour?
James Kaliardos at the Rodarte show threw down the gauntlet stating “I’m not into blush anymore”, and Charlotte Tilbury concurred, saying “I’m not into blush at all this season”. Ding ding! Contoured cheekbones in the Taupe corner (which can look gorge, I have to say, and for the last few seasons it’s been a runway staple.)
In the sweet Blush corner, we have Dick Page who says succinctly “Fuck that”, (no really, that’s a direct quote! Loves it) and proved his point with gorgeous glowing cheeks at the Michael Kors and Marc by Marc Jacobs shows.
To my mind? Really any of us who don’t look like this
– well we need blush as Mother Nature sometimes needs just a little help. However if you do look like supermodel Daria Werbowy’s s little sister (or an angel that fell to earth, which ever you prefer) – well you could pretty much have someone run over your face and leave tyre tracks behind and you’d look amazing. Do whatever you want.
For contouring tips, I’ve got a Contour How-To coming up. For blush, my new favourite that’s slipping on everyone’s cheeks, is Bobbi Brown blush in Pale Pink. For you know, those days when you don’t look like a supermodel.
