This weekend the 10 year anniversary of the Sunday Times Style came out, and there are a number of anniversary covers. I worked on the Eva Herzigova cover with Kay Montano when I was in London in April (what a day that was!), and there’s another fab cover with Burberry model Jourdan Dunn (makeup by Thomas de Kluyver). But when I saw the Rosie Huntington-Whiteley cover which is just full-on, old-skool mega-glam supermodel, I had to know what her regular makeup artist Florrie White used. Here’s what Florrie told me:
“We were on day three of shooting the Autograph collection and Rosie’s lingerie campaign for Marks and Spencer’s, and we had an hour and a half to change the hair and make-up, style Rosie and take the shots. This is when working on shows really comes into play, fast working with products you trust. It obviously also helped that Rosie is a supermodel and highly professional.
To start the base for the complexion I applied Sisley Radiant Immediate Lift which really evens out the skin and I added extra sheen with the Instant Perfect on the high cheek bones, down the nose and on her lips for hydration and as a holding base for the lipstick.
I wanted to create a really porcelain base which would showcase Rosie’s gorgeous features. So I applied Eye Concealer 1 in the inner corners of her eyes, banishing any shadows from there, and around her nose. I applied a very fine amount of Phyto Teint Éclat in Porcelain and Vanilla to finish perfecting her complexion.
I enhanced the shape of Rosie’s brow by just filling in the natural shape with Phyto Sourcil perfect in Blond, then brushing the product through the brows so they are just accentuated, and not heavily filled in. I love the brows to be swept up.
For the eyes I started with the Sisley eyeshadow in Vanilla 1 in the inner corner of her eyes, top and bottom, then sweeping and blending it out and over the top lid. I applied and blended Sorbet 2 up from the inner top lid and into the crease. I then created a definition from the inner socket of the eyelid, over the crease of the lid with Mango 20. I find this really accentuates the lash line. I then used Toffee 7 over the top lid, really getting into the lash line and up to the socket. I then blended and winged it out, subtly, following Rosie’s natural contours. I left the lower lid clear for once! This was Rosie’s suggestion. She knows what suits her best and I embrace and devour advice from these professionals. Eyelashes curled then lengthened with Phyto Mascara in Ultrastretch, and then thickened with Ultra Volume mascara.
I accentuated Rosie’s contours with Sisley Touch in Golden Touch and Copper Touch in the middle of her cheekbones, blended upwards to create a warm glow on the cheeks.
La pièce de resistance, Rosie’s lips! I lined her perfect pout with Phyto Levres Perfect in Ruby, then filled them in with the same pencil. I then coated this base with Hydrating Long Lasting Lipstick in L30. This created really luscious and high shine lips.
Make up was set with Phyto Teint Éclat Compacte then Rosie went off to sizzle on set.”
