Foundation 4 Change is an amazing new charity to help refugees, created by London makeup artists Verity Cumming and Oonagh Anderson. They were on their way to Paris Fashion Week when they became very distressed seeing the plight of the refugees in Calais, and decided they wanted to do something about it.
Knowing how much makeup and skin and hair products get given to makeup artists, hairdressers and beauty journalists all the time, and that we can’t use it all, they came up with the idea of having a massive sale of these unwanted beauty products.
They did a call-out to all their contacts in London and many people donated unused, new in boxes and very slightly tested products to last year’s sale, which raised over £8,500. This was all given to the charity Help Refugees UK http://www.helprefugees.org.uk
I was really touched when I first came across Foundation 4 Change through a makeup friend of mine, as especially this year I have really felt that so much of the world has turned its back on the refugees and what is a huge global humanitarian crisis. Knowing I had boxes of unused PR products from my time as a beauty editor, I was more than happy to finally send them to a good home where they will be used and enjoyed, and at the same time help with a cause that I feel is so important.
This year they’ve had an even bigger response than last year and are expecting many more people to come to the sale. So if you a) like makeup products b) like to do the right thing for refugees, come on down to:
